Recycling Tips
Recycling gives pieces of trash a new shot at life and keeps non-biodegradable (and often hazardous) materials out of landfills.

What to do with styrofoam... Have packing peanuts and block styrofoam that you don't know what to do with? Most cities won't let you put it in curbside recycling, but don't put it in the trash. Some shipping stores accept your used packing peanuts and block styrofoam. In Eugene, Diversified Packing & Shipping (phone 541-345-8200) accepts clean block foam and peanuts from the public at no cost. They use clean block foam as-is for packing and shipping. Diversified Packing & Shipping is located at 1733 Pearl St # D Eugene (in the former Chapman’s building across from Hiron's and near Starbucks). Not in the Eugene area? Call a local shipping stores and ask. If you find one, please share with us! We're building a list.
- Have plastic items that can’t be placed in your curbside bin? This doesn’t necessarily mean that they can’t be recycled; it’s simply a matter of finding a recycler that will take them.
- Always make sure that you clean out what you are recycling.
If food is left in the recycling it will rot. Not only will it smell but it will contaminate the recycling and they will have to throw it out when they sort the recycling.
