Re-using Tips
Lots of things we buy (or are given) can be reused. This keeps things out of landfills and often uses fewer resources than recycling.
- Re-using is better than recycling, but reducing is better than re-using because it takes even fewer resources.
- Keep cloth bags in the car:
Get into the habit of grabbing the bag(s) before you go into the store. Some stores may give you a credit for using your own bag and others are now even beginning to charge if they must provide you with a paper or plastic bag!
- Reuse your own water bottle instead of buying plastic disposable water bottles.
Plastic disposable water bottles are made using oil, the same oil used to make our gasoline, and the same oil that is in high demand and a non renewable natural resource. Not only will reusing your water bottle decrease the demand on oil, help clean up our landfills, but it will save you money. Bottled water cost 500 more times than tap and it is more expensive than gasoline and not as highly regulated as tap water. So kick the bottle!
